Český Krumlov was once home to bandits

In the days when the shadows of the Middle Ages covered the land, the wild forests spread across what is now Český Krumlov. At that time, there were no towns or castles only nature and the Vltava River winding through the valley like a silver ribbon. A trade route between Austria and the Czech heartland crossed this landscape, where bandits made their home on a rock above the ford.

These thieves were the lords of the forest, ambushing travelers and merchant wagons. But as the saying goes, every fortune comes to an end. A courageous knight named Vítek, known for his bravery and honor, discovered their hideout and decided to put an end to their reign of terror.

Vítek’s justice burned bright as he destroyed the bandits’ lair, and in its place, he built a castle to protect the Vltava ford. Today, that castle stands as Krumlov Castle, a symbol of justice and protection.

Legend has it that the bandits, in their time of desperation, hid a treasure. This hidden hoard remains untouched, awaiting someone with the courage and wit to decipher the clues left behind.

The course of the programme

Our guide will introduce the rules of the game and show you how to use our mobile app. Then, your treasure hunt begins! Teams will start simultaneously but choose their own routes and strategies to navigate the city’s historic landmarks and hidden challenges.

Each team plans their own route, decides their pace, and selects the tasks they want to complete. The game features eight categories of challenges, ranging from simple warm-ups to complex puzzles. Will you start with the easier tasks or dive into the most difficult ones right away?

When the time is up, everyone will meet at a designated location to evaluate the results. Which team will uncover the most treasures and solve the tasks most efficiently to win Treasure Hunt Český Krumlov?
